iPhone 18, Pro, Pro Max and the possible foldable: what we know before Apple’s event

WHAT APPLE HAS ACTUALLY CONFIRMED

As of August 30, 2026, the only official campaign fact is the event itself. Apple announced a special event for Wednesday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple's announcement does not list the products it will introduce and does not confirm the names “iPhone 18,” “iPhone 18 Pro,” “iPhone 18 Pro Max,” or “iPhone Ultra.”

Every hardware detail below comes from reporting, analysts or supply-chain sources. Agreement across several outlets may improve plausibility, but it does not turn a claim into an Apple announcement.

THE PICTURE, MODEL BY MODEL

The cautious reading does not place all four phones at the same stage. The Pro models appear close; the foldable is a strong possibility but may ship later; the base model is increasingly reported for a second window.

WHY THE BASE IPHONE 18 MAY ARRIVE LATER

The most consequential change may be the calendar rather than a feature. The Verge, citing production reporting, places the standard iPhone 18—and other lower-priced models—in the first quarter of 2027. Reuters describes the September event as a launch for the newest iPhone series and a potential foldable, without Apple spelling out the lineup.

A staggered cycle could let Apple focus the second half of 2026 on premium models while spreading component demand. That remains an interpretation built from supplier reports. Apple has not confirmed a permanent change to its annual release cadence.

IPHONE 18 PRO AND PRO MAX: THE MOST CONSISTENT REPORTS

The two Pro phones are the strongest candidates for the first presentation. Specialist publications broadly agree on display sizes close to the current 6.3 and 6.9 inches and an A20 Pro chip manufactured on a 2-nanometer process. Reports also mention an Apple-designed C2 modem and changes around the front display cutout.

The central question is the degree of change, not a finished specification sheet. A new process node may improve performance and efficiency, but precise gains will not be trustworthy until Apple publishes its comparisons and independent testing follows.

The camera picture is less stable. Variable aperture was long reported for both Pro models; a newer report says it may be exclusive to Pro Max. Until Apple presents the camera system, the responsible conclusion is that upgrades are expected but the exact Pro-versus-Pro Max split is unresolved.

THE POSSIBLE FOLDABLE: THE NEWEST AND LEAST CERTAIN MODEL

Reuters says Apple may show its first foldable iPhone, while Bloomberg—cited in later reporting—has placed it alongside the Pro lineup. At the same time, engineering and production issues have reportedly complicated the schedule, so a September announcement would not guarantee immediate availability.

Reports describe a book-style device that is wider than most foldables, with an outer display near 5.5 inches and an inner display around 7.8 inches. Touch ID, two rear cameras and an unusually thin chassis also appear in the rumor cycle. Apple has confirmed none of those details.

The commercial name is unknown. “iPhone Fold” is a descriptive label used by publications; “iPhone Ultra” remains a rumored name. This article uses “foldable iPhone” to avoid presenting an unannounced brand as settled.

CHIP, DISPLAY, CAMERAS AND STORAGE

Separating evidence levels prevents a rumor list from becoming a fictional spec sheet. This is what can reasonably be said today:

INTERNATIONAL PRICING AND A CAUTIOUS COLOMBIA RANGE

Apple currently sells iPhone 17 Pro from US$1,099 and Pro Max from US$1,199 in the United States. In Colombia, Mac Center listed the 256GB iPhone 17 Pro at COP 5,749,000 and the 256GB Pro Max at COP 6,279,000 on August 30, before payment-method promotions.

Some reports anticipate higher component and memory costs. MacRumors cites scenarios that could push the future Pro starting prices as high as US$1,399 and US$1,499. Those are reported scenarios, not confirmed MSRPs.

The Colombia estimate is not a simple dollar-to-peso multiplication. It considers current local-channel prices, reported international scenarios, the official COP 3,202.79 exchange rate in effect on August 30, and uncertainty around import costs, taxes, logistics, margin and early availability.

The foldable has a much wider international range—about US$1,800 to US$2,500—and no comparable local reference. Its Colombia price therefore remains “to be confirmed.”

WHAT WE STILL DO NOT KNOW

• Final commercial names and whether Apple will use “Ultra.”
• The exact event lineup and preorder or retail calendar.
• Official prices, capacities and colors by model.
• Which camera features will separate Pro from Pro Max.
• Foldable availability and whether Colombia joins an early wave.
• FASE NUEVE pricing, inventory, warranty terms and delivery dates.

After the event, official Apple information should replace the preliminary reports. Treat this page as a dated snapshot of the evidence, not as a product specification sheet.

WHAT A BUYER IN COLOMBIA SHOULD WAIT FOR

First, confirmation that the product exists. Then the launch-country list, local price, available capacities and delivery date. A global announcement does not necessarily mean immediate Colombian availability—especially for a complex first-generation foldable.

It also helps to separate three numbers: US MSRP, a reference currency conversion and a final Colombia retail price. The third includes local-channel conditions and becomes a price only when a retailer actually publishes it.
